El Mirador Residence

Perched on the highest hilltop in Rancho Santa Fe, this authentic Lilian Rice home is listed on the National Registry of Historical Homes, yet was at risk of demolition for something grander. Intent to preserve the original design, scale and detail, the owner tasked Jansen with renovating the existing Main House and designing a new Carriage House and Pool House. In addition to extensive site and landscaping enhancements, the subtle modernizations and additions were seamlessly accomplished in a natural blending of land and building. This delightful home embodies the character and spirit of the Rancho Santa Fe Covenant and was awarded the Lily Award for outstanding architectural Design by the Rancho Santa Fe Association.
